The Seminar on "Southeast Asian Security and International Relations" brought together international security and area studies specialists from IDSS and Harvard University with the objective of an exchange of ideas and networking between researchers and academics from both organizations. The participants were asked to reassess the security challenges confronted by the states and societies in Southeast Asia from a thematic and theoretical perspective and to press for ways forward in re-thinking some of these challenges as well as the responses from governments and the academic community.
