The Wianno 2005 conference will be devoted to identifying those new policy-relevant basic research subjects within the field of national security that deserve attention over the next five years. Topics to be explored will include the impact of issues and work in the biological sciences on national security, the relevance of intellectual history to the conduct of national security, possible major discontinuities in current trends, and other subjects to be identified. Participants (many of them alumni of the Olin Institute) will include experts on national security from academia, the private sector, and government.
