A Note on Driving to Harvard Square:

Before planning to drive a car to Harvard Square and the Weatherhead Center, you should think about where you are going to park. If you do not have pre-arranged parking or if you do not have time to search for a parking place, you should strongly consider arriving by subway or taxi.

Directions from Logan Airport:

Follow the airport exit signs to the Ted Williams tunnel, which will lead you into downtown Boston. Upon emerging from the tunnel, take Interstate 90, the Massachusetts Turnpike, west. After going through Boston take Exit 18, "Cambridge/Allston." Bear right after the tollbooth. At the first traffic light turn left onto Soldiers Field Road westbound. Take the Harvard Square exit (a ramp to the right) and cross the Charles River. Continue north on John F. Kennedy Street to the fourth set of traffic lights, which brings you to the center of Harvard Square. Continue north, now keeping Harvard Yard on your right. After the next set of traffic lights bear right around the Yard and through a tunnel, now staying to the left. The tunnel will put you onto Cambridge Street. After crossing the intersection with Quincy Street, 1737 Cambridge Street is the second building on your left.

Directions from Storrow Drive / Soldiers Field Road:

Take the Harvard Square exit off of Storrow Drive and Soldiers Field Road and cross the Charles River. Continue north on John F. Kennedy Street to the fourth set of traffic lights, which brings you to the center of Harvard Square. Continue north, now keeping Harvard Yard on your right. After the next set of traffic lights bear right around the Yard and through a tunnel, now staying to the left. The tunnel will put you onto Cambridge Street. After crossing the intersection with Quincy Street, 1737 Cambridge Street is the second building on your left.

Directions from the Massachusetts Turnpike, eastbound:

Take Exit 18, "Cambridge/Allston." Bear right after the tollbooth. At the first traffic light turn left onto Soldiers Field Road. Take the Harvard Square exit (a ramp to the right) and cross the Charles River. Continue north on John F. Kennedy Street to the fourth set of traffic lights, which brings you to the center of Harvard Square. Continue north, now keeping Harvard Yard on your right. Directions from Route 2 (west of the city):

Follow Route 2 east until it merges with Alewife Brook Parkway (the Alewife Red Line subway station and parking garage are on your right). Get in the left lane and follow the sign indicating:

Bear left through the lights, and at the next set of lights (.4 miles) take a right onto Massachusetts Avenue (also east 2A). Follow Massachusetts Avenue 2.1 miles. (Cambridge Common will be on the right.) Get into the left lane and take a left at the traffic lights at the end of the Common (before reaching Harvard Square). Once you turn left, Harvard Yard will be straight ahead. Turn left at the next traffic lights, bear right around the contour of the Yard and get into the left lane to follow the tunnel to Cambridge Street. After crossing the intersection with Quincy Street, 1737 Cambridge Street is the second building on your left.

Walking Directions from the Harvard Square subway station (on the MBTA Red Line)

Leave the Harvard Square station and cross Massachusetts Avenue into Harvard Yard. Walk north, across the length of the Yard, toward the Harvard Science Center. At the Science Center turn right, following the sidewalk past Memorial Hall. Cross Quincy Street, and 1737 Cambridge Street will be the second building on your left.
