Faculty Nominations for Graduate Student Associates and Student Research Grant Recipients

Faculty Associates are encouraged to nominate students both for affiliation with the Weatherhead Center and for research grants available to graduate (and undergraduate) students through the Center. These affiliations and grants benefit approximately 40 graduate students and over 20 undergraduates each year, contributing in substantial ways to student-faculty interaction.

Who is Eligible

Students may be nominated by Faculty Associates to the Weatherhead Center Graduate Student Associate Program or for a number of student research grants. Eligibility requirements vary and are outlined in the brochure on student programs and fellowships, available from the Student Programs coordinator, Clare Putnam.

Making Nominations

Faculty Associates interested in making a nomination should contact the Student Programs coordinator, Clare Putnam, as described above. Award programs that students may qualify for include:

  • Graduate Student Associates (24 in total, from all departments; support for three years);
  • Dissertation completion grants (three available per year);
  • Pre- and mid-dissertation short-term research grants (up to 15 available per year);
  • Undergraduate travel grants for senior thesis research (approximately 24 available per year).
