Colombian Civil Sector Initiative

PONSACS, with Harvard's David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies (DRCLAS), is currently planning a project aimed at involving civil society in the peace process in Colombia. This follows a November 2002 conference hosted by DRCLAS and PONSACS. The conference brought together researchers, academics, and civil sector leaders from Colombia, who met with a wide variety of Harvard Faculty to discuss issues related to civil society involvement, conflict resolution, and human rights. The conference was the first step of the Colombia Civil Sector Initiative, which in collaboration with Colombia's National Reconciliation Commission and a wider range of other institutions, expects to design, execute, and coordinate education and training within Colombian universities that, in turn, will work with local organizations and projects as they move towards a peaceful and productive environment in the various regions of the country.
