Internationalizing
Indigenous Community Land Rights: Nicaraguan
Indians and the Inter-American Court
of Human Rights
|
|
PONSACS has
been involved in a landmark land and resource
rights case brought before the Inter-American
Court of Human Rights by the community of
Awas Tingni of Nicaragua's Caribbean coast.
PONSACS anthropological and cartographic research
and assistance with the prosecution in the
case helped to ensure that the community was
granted legal rights to their land based on
their tradition use and occupancy.
