### Speaker Bio

Tjada D’Oyen McKenna is the chief executive officer of Mercy Corps, where she leads a global team of over 5,600 humanitarians, who provide immediate relief to save lives and livelihoods and work to create transformational change reaching thirty-seven million people in more than forty countries.

Previously, she served as chief operating officer of CARE, where she oversaw the organization’s programming and global operations. She has also served as chief operating officer at Habitat for Humanity.

Ms. D’Oyen spent more than a decade working to end world hunger in roles with the Bill &amp; Melinda Gates Foundation and the US government. During the Obama administration, Ms. D’Oyen served as the deputy coordinator of development for Feed the Future, the US government’s global hunger and food security initiative, and the assistant to the administrator of the US Agency for International Development’s Bureau for Food Security in Washington, DC. Ms. D’Oyen also brings a passion for innovation to her work, developed early in her career, through various roles at McKinsey &amp; Company, American Express, and General Electric.

### About the Jodidi Lecture

The [Jodidi Lecture](https://wcfia.harvard.edu/lectureships/jodidi) is among the most prominent lecture series of the Weatherhead Center and is one of the most distinguished at the University. Established in 1955, the lecture series provides for the “delivery of lectures by eminent and well-qualified persons…for the promotion of tolerance, understanding and good will among nations, and the peace of the world.”
