# Grants for Graduate Student Workshops and Conferences ## expand\_more ### For Harvard applicants only. The Weatherhead Center for International Affairs offers grants to support workshops and conferences at which graduate students are presenting their research. The research presented must relate to the interests of the Center, i.e., research focused on international, transnational, global, and comparative issues. Please note that these grants are for students organizing workshops and conferences rather than for students wishing to attend such events. ## Grants Grants generally range from $500 to $2,500, but the Center may consider larger requests. The Center is willing to cosponsor workshops and conferences with other departments or centers. ## Terms The students applying for these grants must be enrolled in a doctoral program in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences or one of the professional schools. The research presented must relate to the interests of the Center, i.e., research focused on international, transnational, global, and comparative issues. While the Center welcomes all applications, preference will be given to applications from Weatherhead Center-affiliated graduate students. ## How to Apply Applications must include a one- to two-page description of the event, including its theme, goals, and intended audience; a list of the graduate students, and their research topics, who will be presenting at the event; a conference agenda (a draft is acceptable); and a budget, including other confirmed or potential sources of funding, along with a completed [application cover sheet](/sites/g/files/omnuum8891/files/2025-08/grad-student-grant-form_0.pdf "Graduate Student Grant Form") (download a copy first before completing). After the event, grant recipients must submit a brief event summary report to the Weatherhead Center. Questions and applications should be directed to Ann Townes.
