#  Ya-Wen Lei Selected as Public Intellectuals Program Fellow

 Faculty Associate Ya-Wen Lei, assistant professor of sociology at Harvard University, was selected to be a fellow for the sixth cohort of the Public Intellectuals Program by the National Committee on United States-China Relations. The [program](https://www.ncuscr.org/program/public-intellectuals-program), launched in 2005, is “dedicated to nurturing the next generation of China specialists who, in the tradition of earlier China hands, have the interest and potential to venture outside of academia to engage with the public and policy communities.” The Public Intellectuals Program offers many opportunities over the course of two years—including requiring each fellow to organize a public outreach program.
