DESCRIPTION:<p>The Weatherhead Center for International Affairs warmly welcomes you to the Warren and Anita Manshel Lecture in American Foreign Policy.</p><h2>“The State of the Euro: Implications for Europe and the United States”</h2><h3>Speaker</h3><p><strong>Jean-Claude Trichet</strong>, <em>Former President, European Central Bank; Honorary Governor, Banque de France.</em></p><p><strong><drupal-media data-entity-type="media" data-entity-uuid="5a1bdefb-4a76-4fb0-ad4c-38e6a008a572" data-align="left" alt="Image of Jean-Claude Trichet" data-view-mode="hwp_small"></drupal-media>Jean-Claude Trichet</strong> is honorary governor of the Banque de France and served an eight-year term as president of the European Central Bank from 2003 until 2011. He is currently chairman of both the Group of Thirty and the board of directors of the Bruegel Institute and a member of the <em>Institut de France, Académie des Sciences Morales et Politiques</em>. Trichet was named “Person of the Year” in 2007 by the <cite>Financial Times</cite> and “Policymaker of the Year” by <cite>International Economy</cite> magazine in 1991 and 2007. In addition, he has received a number of awards including the 2011 International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen for his contribution to European unity and the 2011 Global Economy Prize from the Kiel Institute for the World Economy.</p><p><em>Q &amp; A to follow the lecture.
