The fall 2022 issue of *Centerpiece* highlights the Center's recent activities, including program updates, feature articles, new books, and more. The Center's acting director, Erez Manela, shares updates for the WCFIA in the [Message from the Director](/publications/centerpiece/fall2022/director "Message from the Director") column. Four of our Undergraduate Associates detail their summer travel experiences abroad doing thesis research in our annual [Dispatches](/publications/centerpiece/fall2022/dispatches "Dispatches: Undergraduate Researchers in the Field") feature. Graduate Student Associate Gbemisola Abiola writes our second feature article on [internally displaced people in Borno, Nigeria](/publications/centerpiece/fall2022/feature_abiola "Finding Home after Boko Haram's Terror"), who have fled their homes in the wake of violence from Boko Haram. The [Weatherhead Scholars Program](/publications/centerpiece/fall2022/prog_scholars "Weatherhead Scholars Program") update shares details on the plethora of fall activities cluster affiliates have enjoyed. We announce the newly awarded Kenneth I. Juster Fellows in our [Student Programs](/publications/centerpiece/fall2022/prog_student "Student Programs") update. Finally, we mourn the [loss of Henry Rosovsky](/publications/centerpiece/fall2022/in_memoriam "In Memoriam"), a beloved and longtime Harvard professor, former dean, former president, and founder of The Harvard Academy for International and Area Studies.

Still, the world continues to face many challenges and we at the Center remain committed as ever to the production and dissemination of knowledge that can help us better meet them...

*by Gbemisola Abiola*

When you flee terror, you do not run in a straight line. ### [Dispatches: Undergraduate Researchers in the Field](/publications/centerpiece/fall2022/dispatches "Dispatches: Undergraduate Researchers in the Field")

Every spring, a select group of Harvard College students receive travel grants from the Weatherhead Center to support their thesis field research on topics related to international affairs. We selected seventeen exceptional undergraduates whose research we will support financially as well as in other ways, from helping revise research methods to planning projects that don’t require travel...
