Hoguet had a long career as a finance professional across different industries: investment banking, government, pension fund consulting, and portfolio management. In the first Reagan Administration, according to his obituary, he served in the US Treasury Department, as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Affairs and represented the United States at the World Bank.

Hoguet was a longtime collaborator and friend of the Weatherhead Center. In 2018, he contributed to the Weatherhead Research Cluster on Global History, supporting their seminar and the graduate workshop, along with helping fund graduate student grants. He also participated in many conferences and symposia over the years, including Talloires. He served in multiple advisory roles throughout recent decades, as part of our Weatherhead Center Visiting Committee from 2002–2005 and Advisory Committee from 2019–2021.
