## Weatherhead Orientation

Before the start of the fall semester every year, the Weatherhead Center hosts an orientation for the incoming year's affiliates. This year, affiliates gathered on August 25 and 26 for our 2025–2026 orientation that started with introductions, followed by informative panels by library professionals, staff, and faculty, and concluded with a BBQ for all affiliates and their families. *Credits (left to right): Kristin Caulfield, Lauren McLaughlin, Bethany Versoy*

## Syria in Transition

On October 23, the Weatherhead Center hosted a conversation between Center Director Melani Cammett and Hind Kabawat, Minister of Social Affairs and Labour, Syrian Arab Republic. They discussed post-Assad Syria’s difficult transition, highlighting immense institutional and social challenges but emphasizing dialogue, inclusivity, diaspora engagement—and long-term, capacity-building efforts to create a democratic and socially protective state for all Syrians. *Credits: Bethany Versoy*
